Taking stock of Tokyopop

Tokyopop is planning an IPO later this year ... but on the Japanese stock market.

Manga-ka and other writers in Japan are growing increasingly concerned about the rise of manga rental stores, which make things cheap for the reader but swipe the royalties out of the creators' hands.

And yay, I reviewed my favorite!

Pata, that was a good and convincing review (even if you did say "right hand man!) that tempts me to try the book. I'd been skeptical before and don't have free money now, but I'll keep an eye out for it anyway, I think.

And a Nikkei IPO seems like a strange choice, which means it will be especially interesting to watch. As always, I'm glad you're around to post things like this in a place where I look.
