ComiLog

Just another otaku blog

Archive for the ‘Site’ Category

So I was looking around the other day, there are a lot of “professional” anime sites, like ANN, AoD (now Mania.com), and so on.

So, where are all the professional manga sites? No, not blogs, but sites on the level of ANN and such in terms of “professionalism.” Over the past few years, manga-related sites have rising exponentially, but will there ever be a day when a true “professional” manga site is born?

Sometimes I also wonder how many of those “professional” anime sites actually pay all their staff members…

  • WordPress Upgrade Complete

    Finished upgrading WP to 2.5.

I have to say, the latest version of everyone’s favorite blogging engine is pretty nice (Drupal’s still better though ;P), I especially like the new admin theme.

Time to play around with the new software!

  • Has CP Passed its Prime?

Nowadays, with work and school getting busier and busier, and games taking up more and more of my free time, I wonder if ComiPress’ has passed its prime? I remember a year ago, around the same time, the site was being updated daily with cool news articles from Japan…nowadays it’s mostly press releases and links to other sites…

*Okay so  that was a poor attempt at trying to make this blog look not dead, hehehe…

  • Drupal 6 is Out!

In case you didn’t know…ComiPress is powered by Drupal, one of the more popular CMS (Content Management System) around these days (this blog, however, is running on WordPress).

Drupal is very powerful, and in the hands of a skilled person, can be used to create almost any kind of site. So, with the recent release of Drupal 6 (yea, I’m kind of late posting this, actually, lol), many times I’ve been tempted to upgrade CP to Drupal 6.

  • Short on Time

So now I’m back into my busy-busy lifestyle…with school works and other works and so on…what does that mean? Less time for CP of course! XD

If you don’t see any updates…you know why now. Kukuku.

  • Ikimashou URL change

It would seem that due to a series of unfortunate events, Ikimashou.net has lost its domain to some evil domain thieves. Fortunately, the site is now hosted at http://dasaku.net/. Best of lucks to Ikimashou in getting its domain back…but $600 sounds like a bit too much, ouch. I wonder what will happen to the blog’s name now that “Ikimashou.net” is “gone”?

For those interested, ComiPress’ domain registrar is Moniker, supposedly one of the most secure registrars–Looking at the number of steps one needs to follow just to change a password, I would like to agree.

So being bored today, I took a look at some of CP’s stats…more specifically, seach engine referers, which checks what search queries visitors looked up in their favorite search engines and ended up at CP. Interesting results ensues.
