Kumori ("Cloudy")-con isn't the biggest con around, by any means. Seriously, though? For a con which started five years ago with 400 people in Eugene (OR), it's doing super-specially awesome.
By its fourth year (2006), its attendance had almost sextupled to 2250 con-goers. This time, after having bounced around Portland hotels in its second, third and fourth years, Kumori-con touched down in the new Vancouver (WA) Hilton. A good choice indeed. Vancouver isn't far from downtown Portland (ten or fifteen minutes by car), but it's much easier to navigate, and the parking is MUCH more affordable. That, and the hotel was a brilliant venue. It had two lobbies, the layout was open enough to allow for good crowd circulation, and there was a nice big park just across the street for use in photo shoots or as a meeting spot.
The hotel's nice golden-yellow color scheme made pictures turn out a bit wonky, with everyone looking just a little jaundiced, but you can't have everything. :-)
