Something I've been wondering about for a while now. Should an imprint also be considered a "publisher"?

For example, should CMX, Be Beautiful, Yen Press, etc. be in a separate category as DC Comics, Hachette Books, etc., or is it better to put them all in one big category?

No, never >.< imprints should never be considred publishers. Its like considering "Jump Comics" and "Young Jump Comics" and "Birz Comics" and the hundreds of japanese comic imprints to be publishers.

Though I have seen many times in english forums people calling an imprint a publisher, but lets keep away from doing that. an imprint is a label which publishers use to publish their works under, and nothing more than that.

Its better to put them all in one big category:

Publisher: A
Imprints of publisher A:  AA, AB, AC, ...

Publisher: B
Imprints of publisher B:  BA, BB, BC, ...
