Sales of E-Books Through Phone Increases by 331% in Japan

According to a report (PDF) from the Digital Content Association of Japan, sales of e-books, including manga, through mobile phone grew 331.3% in 2006 (from 1.6 billion yen to 6.9 billion yen), while non-phone internet sales increased by 69.7% from 4.8 billion yen to 8.1 billion yen.

its seems like good news for manga on the cell phone but, at the manga mania panel at anime expo they said its not really people reading manga on their cell phone that are making this market grow its people reading e-books. But in this they group then both together so who knows if manga on the cell phone is really catching on.
