Japanese Blog Bashes Shana Novel

Canned Dogs reports that the Japanese blog Dekadenbiyori is not impressed with the English version of the Shakugan no Shana light novel, commenting on the poor translation and the fact that the protagonist Yuji Sakai's speech are composed of 41% "Ugh," 25% What?!, and the rest some other kinds of exclamatory statements.

Yeah, thats right. I got the first light novel volume, and I don't want to get anymore english translated light novels :(

I don't think people should

I don't think people should pass judgment on the quality of translation without comparing it to the original edition. There's a limit to what translators and rewriters can do without altering much of the text if a literature is written poorly in the first place.
