Toei President and COO comes to Brazil

Last week, Toei Animation's president and COO Yosuke Kobayashi and director Kaz Yamashita visited Brazil. The two talked with specialized press, and Papo de Budega was present during the occasion.

One of reasons of the visit is to review the Brazilian and Latin American anime distribution scene. The company wants to give more attention to countries around the region. Their focus is on free TV (broadcast), instead of cable TV.

We asked about the new Dragon Ball (ドラゴンボール) products based on Fox's live-action movie. Toei is analyzing new materials for the occasion, however, it's not clear which would be these new products. The company is also negotiating One Piece (ワンピース) for the Brazilian brodcast TV. The first season to be shown will be the same as that of Cartoon Network's (4Kids).

Also, Papo de Budega asked about the new Berusayu no Bara (ベルサイユのばら) movie (Rose of Versailles). A clear answer was not provided when asked if the delay in the launching occurred because of the author, Ryoko Ikeda, disliked the film. The title was planned to reach theaters by the end of 2007, but according to Mr. Yamashita, Toei Animation is reviewing its production and the movie was postponed to 2009. Toei wants to create a great movie to satisfy the fans. Others information coming soon.
