Shogakukan

• According a post on J.A.C. Bulletin, Lynn Okamoto, mangaka of Elfen Lied, will start a new manga in Young Jump this October centered around ski jumping.

• A new manga titled Assistant Romance Keika (アシスタント伝奇ケイカ) by Rosuke Nishikawa will begin in Young Animal No.11 (10/5).

• A new series titled Inanna (イナンナ) from Reiko Okano, mangaka of Onmyoji, will start in issue 41 of Morning, on sale 9/13.

• A manga version of Sushi Oji! (Prince Sushi!) (スシ王子!) will begin in issue 41 of Young Sunday, on sale 9/13.

• According to AoD, Kodansha Box will launch a new magazine called Pandora, which will be published twice a year.

• A new series from Kei Toume titled Momonchi (ももんち) will begin serialization in Shogakukan's Big Comic Spirits No.40 (9/3). The series originally appeared in Big Comic Spirits as a one-shot in in 2006.

• Also, the manga adaptation of Ookami to Koushinryou (狼と香辛料), drawn by Koume Keito, and a manga adaptation of the PSP game Wild Arms XF (WILD ARMS XF (ワイルドアームズ クロスファイア)), drawn by Karin Suzuragi, will start in the November issue of Dengeki Maoh.

• Yu Yagami's Those Who Hunt Elves (エルフを狩るモノたち), which originally ended in 2002, will once again be serialized in Dengeki Gao (November issue, 9/27).

• A new manga titled Itadakitsu! (イタダキッ!) by Junji Uenishi will begin in Evening No.19 (9/19).

Miharu♥Rising (美晴♥ライジング), a new baseball manga by Ootani Jirou (mangaka of Shimokita Glory Days), will start in Young Sunday issue 40 (9/6).

topBack in Febraury, Kadokawa Shoten revealed that the popular seinen manga MPD Psycho, written by Eiji Otsuka and drawn by Sho-u Tajima, will be moved from Shonen Ace to Comic Charge. MPD Psycho resumed serialization with the release of Comic Charge issue 11 (8/22).

Also beginning in Comic Charge issue 11 is Masaaki Nakayama's Maigo Man, a preview of which is available here.

A new series titled Angel High School by Inugami Sukune will begin in the September issue of Sunday GX (8/18), the same issue that Shin Angyo Onshi ended in.

A new manga titled Reisen Shoujo by Souichi Hon began serialization in Manga Action No. 17 (8/21).

On 8/21, Kadokawa Shoten released a special issue of its Monthly Shonen Ace magazine titled Neon Genesis Evangelion Complete Compilation. The special issue contains Yoshiyuki Sadamoto's Evangelion manga, as well as materials from other artists.

Masahito Soda (capeta creator)'s manga Subaru will resume serialization in Big Comic Spirits No. 36+37 (8/6) under the titled Moon (Subaru ~solitude standing~).

Also, a new manga by Hiromi Morishita titled Yoru, Umi e Kanru Basu will begin serialization in Manga Action issue 16 (8/7).

topAccording to Sho-Comi's Editorial blog, the total sales of Kotomi Aoki's manga have reached 10 million units. To celebrate, an Kotomi Aoki autograph session is being held starting July 28th at the KaBoS Okuwa store in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa.

Kotomi Aoki is a popular shoujo mangaka whose manga regularly appear in Shogakukan's Sho-Comi. Boku wa Imouto ni Koi o Suru, Aoki's signature series, have sold over 6 million copies, and was adapted into a live-action movie in January 2007. Other series by Aoki include Boku no Hatsukoi wo Kimi ni Sasagu, Ijiwaru Shinaide!, Ashita, Anata ga Mezame tara, Taiyou ga Ippai and Asa mo, Hiru mo, Yoru mo.

topBack in May, Tajima T. Yasue (pen name) officially apologized to Shogakukan and Fujiko Production for the now-legendary Doraemon doujinshi, and announced that he will pay an undisclosed amount of money for the settlement based on the sales generated by the doujinshi (rumored to be several million yen).

Many doujinshi creators have criticized Shogakukan for taking legal actions and generally making a big deal out of one doujinshi. Shogakukan responded by saying the doujinshi has sold over 13,000 copies, which has far surpassed the normal sales of a doujinshi, and some people have even started asking if the story was true.

According to Rumic World, starting with issue 34, Shogakukan's Shonen Sunday will offer two Rumiko Takahashi offset prints for 1,000 yen, with each piece chosen by Takahashi herself. The deal will end after Shonen Sunday issue 38.

Shin Angyo Onshi (Blade of the Phantom Mask) by In-Wan Youn and Kyung-Il Yang will end its serialization in the September issue of Sunday GX, on sale 8/18.

Senaka: Otaku Road reports that with the Japanese release of Tenjho Tenge Volume 17, Oh! Great's seinen manga, which began serialization in 1998 in Ultra Jump, will have sold over 10.7 million copies.

Shounen Fang's official website has been updated with a brief statement from its editorial department announcing the magazine's demise.

animeOnline points out that Shogakukan will be re-releasing manga from Moto Hagio under the "Moto Hagio Perfect Selection" label. Some of the manga to be released under the label include Barbara Ikai and Mesh I & II.

The Kyoto International Manga Museum will hold a special exhibition from 7/30 to 8/27 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Shogakukan's CoroCoro Comic, a children's magazine that serializes manga like Doraemon and Pokemon.
