The 14th Salón de Manga de Barcelona took place in Spain between October 30th – November 2th. The event featured a variety of activities such as expositions, anime, and magazines, the Spanish section of the World Cosplay Summit, and other competitions.

Artists from the Japan's entertainment industry also appeared at the event: Kaiji Kawaguchi, (Eagle's mangaka), Yoshikazu Yasuhiko (Gundam: The Origin), Junko Mizuno (Cinderalla), art director Ian Lovett (the games Fable II). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Japan Foundation invited Takamasa Sakurai and Michihiko Suwa as well.

Spanish publisher Norma Editorial has announced its 3rd Manga Competition for original manga. The deadline is August 31st 2008. It was not specified whether the entry has to be in Spanish. More information available in Spanish at Norma Editorial's Competition page (PDF). The winner of the competition will receive 2000 Euros.

From Mision Tokyo comes a list of the manga that will be available at this year's Salón del Manga, an annual manga convention that takes place in Spain.

According to Mision Tokyo, Spanish publisher MangaLine has licensed Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO) by Tohru Fujisawa and Yûgo (Yûgo el Negociador) by Shinji Makari & Shuu Akana.

Spanish publisher Norma Editorial has announced its "II Manga Competition" original manga competition. The publishing company will accept original titles until September 28th. Norma Editorial hopes to use this competition to stimulate the growth of new authors in Spain. All information are available in Spanish at Norma Editorial's Competition page (PDF). The sale of Fullmetal Alchemist manga was a complete success during this year's XII Salón del Manga de Barcelona. Norma Editorial sold 6,000 copies in just three days, and is already printing the second edition. Fullmetal Alchemist is one of Norma Editorial's fastest selling manga at the moment.

masamitokuOne of the most well-known Spanish manga and anime website, AniMangaWeb, has announced their own specialized anime/manga magazine - "Mangazine." The first issue of Mangazine will be on sale during the next Hall of Manga (XII Salón del Manga) event in the city of Barcelona.

Mangazine will explore other areas in Asian comic such as manhwa (Korean comics), manhua (Chinese comics), as well as European and American comics.
