Yuki Urushibara's popular comic "Mushishi" (serialized in Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon Magazine, recently licensed in North American by Del Rey) will be adapted into a live-action film starring Jo Odagiri. The director will be Katsuhiro Otomo of AKIRA fame.

Konami announces a new Death Note game for DS, to be released in February 2007.

Living Corpse by Hideshi Hino will be made into a sci-fi action-thriller titled "The Drowning Man."

Popular adult PC game Happiness! by Windmill will be adapted into an Anime TV Series this October.

Kyoshiro to Eien no Sora by Kaishaku will be adapted into an Anime.

History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi by Matsuena Shun, currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday, will be adapted into an Anime.

Gegege no Kitaro will be adapted into a live action movie. Wentz Eiji will be playing Kitaro, while Inoue Mao will play the heroin.

Nihon Terebi will broadcast the first 12 minutes of the Death Note movie late in the night 6 days from June 26th.

The first week box office sales for the first Death Note movie was more than 700,000. Opening in the midst of the World Cup, the movie still managed to show impressive sales, as well as topping the Da Vinci Code two weeks in a row.
