Fumiyo Kouno's seinen manga Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms will be adapted into a live-action movie, opening July 28th. Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms won the Grand Prize at the 8th Japan Media Arts Festival in 2004 as well as the New Life Award at the 9th Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prizes in 2005. The manga has been licensed in the U.S. by Last Gasp.

According to Moon Phase, Inoue Takehiko's basketball web comic Buzzer Beater will be adapted into an anime. This marks the second time Buzzer Beater is adapted into an anime. The new anime will be aired in July.

Two movie adaptations of Tsutomu Nihei's Blame! were announced during the Tokyo Animation Fair. The two movies consist of a full 3D CG movie that will experience a theatrical release, and a shorter movie that will be released on DVD.

Tsutomu Nihei's response to the adaptations: "I'm glad to have the original made so fruitfully into these movies. The feelings of dark and hopelessness is very well portrayed. I stopped drawing half a year ago to participate in this project."

An anime adaptation of Zombie-Loan by PEACH-PIT (DearS and Rozen Maiden) has been announced. The official website of the anime will be launched on 4/18, but is current available at www.zombie-loan.com.

Zombie-Load is currently serialized in Square-Enix's shounen manga magazine GFantasy, and so far 7 volumes have been released in Japan. Zombie-Loan has been licensed in the U.S. by Yen Press.

Type-Moon recently re-newed the Kara no Kyoukai official movie website at www.karanokyoukai.com. According to the "new" website, instead of a single film, Kara no Kyoukai ~Garden of Sinners~ will be a 7-part movie series. The seven movies will cover all seven chapters of the original Kara no Kyoukai novel.

Also, a promotional video will be shown at the Aniplex booth during the Tokyo International Anime Fair. Other promotional events are also being planned.

Shogakukan has announced that its new shounen light novel label Gagaga Bunko will launch on May 24th. The label's 10-title lineup includes a novel adaptation of Kenjiro Hata's Hayate the Combat Butler, written by Toshihiko Tsukiji.

Short Song, Masuno Koichi's (poet/writer/etc.) first novel, will be adapted into a manga by Yua Kotegawa (Arcana, Anne Freaks). The new manga will begin serialization in Super Jump No. 8, on sale 3/28.

An anime adaptation of the seinen manga Shigurui, written by Norio Nanjo and drawn by Takayuki Yamaguchi, has been announced and is planned to be aired in September.

Ken Akamatsu wrote in the 2/27 entry of his online dairy that a Negima-related surprise will be announced in April.

Recently Japanese fans discovered a post on actress Ai Tanimoto's blog (currently unavailable), which mentions that a Negima! live-action drama is planned for the upcoming year, and that she will be playing the role of one of the girls.

There has been no official confirmation regarding a Negima! live-action drama.

Kodansha has confirmed that Koji Kumeta's Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei will be adapted into an anime. More information can be found on Kodansha's anime adaptation page.
