AnimeAnime recently started a series called "100 Questions About Anime & Manga Overseas", where Japanese fans send in their questions about the foreign Anime and Manga scene. One of the questions asked was "How is the Quality of a Fansub's Translation, and the Translator's Skill?".

AnimeAnime has posted a special 2-part follow-up to that article, titled "€œFansubs and the Gloom of the Anime Industry€." In Part 1, Romi (the writer) talks about the history of fansubs, and how the growth of internet affected the fandom in general. In Part 2, Romi talks about how some fansubbers defend their actions.

Harlequin Enterprises has announced that it will publish its own line of manga in the U.S. under its new Harlequin Pink Ginger Blossom imprint. Four titles, translated and packaged by Dark Horse, will be released in September: Jinxed, adapted by Akemi Maki, Never Kiss a Stranger adapted by Maya Kasumi, No Competition adapted by Yukino Hara, and A Prince Needs a Princess adapted by Reiko Kishida.

Toei Animation and Gentosha recently announced "Ga-nime" (art anime), a new form of media that will display static art/drawings one by one, accompanied by music and speech. The first "Ga-nime" DVD will be released on August 1st, 9 other Ga-nime series will soon follow, each costing 3,129 yen.

Japanese anime production company We've Inc. has announced that it will purchase Sony Magazine's division that's responsible for publishing magazine and books. The price of the acquisition has not been announced.
