According to Chuosha, with only 5 issues released, JC Shuppan's adult manga magazine COMIC CROSS (コミッククロス) will cease publication on June 2nd. The magazine was launched in October 2006. Comic Cross will be succeeded by Comic Manten.

Also, Core Magazine released the first issue of its new adult manga magazine Comic Mega GOLD on May 25th.

topWe're now six months into 2007 and there have been a lot of news about new anime publications hitting retailers. From Isaac Alexander comes a brief overview of news from last year from where the last report left off.

Anthologies and Magazines 2006-2007

One addendum to the previous report: The report neglected to include two new publications that were starting at the end of 2005. The Monash Caulfield Anime Club in August 2005 premiered their first issue of Animaverick, Australia's first homegrown anime magazine covering anime, manga, and J-pop in the land down under. Across the Indian Ocean west of Australia, the company Xvolve Publishing premiered the first South African publication called Otaku Magazine. As of this time, both publications are only available in their host nations.

The first volume of Otaku USA has been released, and Heisei Democracy has a review (Via Icarus Blog). While reading Otaku USA, don't forget to check out Ed Chavez (MangaCast)'s "Japan's 24-hour Content Delivery System."

According to nebs66, the July issue of Shonen Jump has started a new campaign to promote "Shonen Jump Evolution," which will result in major changes in the content of Shonen Jump. Full detail regarding the change can be found here. A website for SJ Evolution will also become available in the future.

ANN also reports that Viz has a few changes in store for Shojo Beat.

The monthly novel magazine Novel JAPAN is getting a new title: Charano! (キャラの!). Also, the release date of the magazine will be changed to the 30th of every month (from the 10th of every month).

The first issue of the magazine under the new title Charano! will be out on June 30th, 2007. The new issue will see the debut of a new series, D&D replay (DUNGEONS & DRAGONS replay).

Ohzora Shuppan has announced a new josei manga magazine. The first issue of the new magazine, titled Romance Tiara, will be released on June 5th, and will be sold for 650 yen.

Yoshimoto Kogyo has announced the official release date of their new comedy/seinen manga magazine Comic Yoshimoto. The magazine, aimed at men between ages 20 - 40, will be launched on June 19th. The first issue is expected to sell over 250,000 copies. The magazine will be released on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of everymonth.

Shueisha will be releasing an add-on issue to its shojo magazine Cobalt on June 18th titled Bessatsu Cobalt. The magazine will be sold for 680 yen, and is said to be a light novel magazine aimed at maidens (otome).

According to ANN, the excerpt from Osamu Tezuka's Princess Knight that will appear in Viz's Shojo Beat 2nd Anniversary issue will be the original Princess Knight that ran in the manga magazine Shojo Club from 1953 to 1956.
