U.K.Publisher ILEX Press is pleased to announce the release of the most concise and easy-to-follow manga instruction book to date, Draw Manga Step-by-Step on Your Computer, available this month. Indian Catholic reports that manga-style illustrations are being used in a new vocations program from the National Office for Vocation of the Bishops Conference of England and Wales. According to Fr. Paul Embery, Director of the National Office for Vocation: "We have chosen the Manga cartoons for the 2007 campaign, because we hope it will appeal to young people under twenty as well as people in their thirties. [...] Many of today’s priests and religious people say they first thought of their callings at the age of ten, sometimes even earlier." According to investigators, the prime suspect, Tatsuya Ichihashi, may have murdered Lindsay while playing out a scene from one of his hentai manga, as Lindsay, whose naked body was found buried in a bath of sand, was strangled to death after her hands and feet were tied with plastic cords: Reuters.jp has published an article on the popularity of manga in the U.K. Following the success of manga in France, Germany and the U.S., more and more people in the U.K. are starting to have a better understanding of Japanese manga. Manga such as Fruits Basket and Astro Boy are experiencing positive salesin the U.K., and works such as the Bible and Shakespearean plays are being adapted into manga. Titan Books has announced that it will release Kosuke Fujishima's Oh My Goddess! in the U.K. Other releases include The Anime Encyclopedia, MegaTokyo Volume 4 and Eden: It's An Endless World. Currently 4 different versions have been announced, The Manga Bible NT-Raw and The Manga Bible NT-Extreme (released in February) contains only the New Testament, while The Manga Bible Raw Edition and The Manga Bible Extreme Deluxe Edition (to be released in July) will contain the entire Bible.
