U.S.ICv2 interviews Rich Johnson of Yen Press, who talks about the new publishing enterprise, as well as how it will be handled by himself and Kurt Hassler. San Francisco, CA, November 6, 2006 - VIZ Media, LLC (VIZ Media), one of the entertainment industry's most innovative and comprehensive publishing, animation and licensing companies, has announced the long-awaited conclusion to the RANMA ½ manga series. The final edition, volume 36, will hit store shelves nationwide November 14 and will retail for $9.99. With four more months left till the second New York Comic Con, Newsarama sits down with Comic Con Director Greg Topalian to talk about what happened during last year's Comic Con, and how things will change in the upcoming NYCC. A "manga day" event, supported by Neo Magazine and Manga Entertainment, took place today from 11:00am to 6:00pm at London Graphics Centre's (an art supply retailer) Covent Garden store. The following groups attended the event: The Hachette Book Group has announced a new young men/adults oriented comic imprint called Yen Press. According to PW, "The imprint will be directed by former DC Comics v-p Rich Johnson, who joined Hachette last month, and Kurt Hassler, formerly the graphic novel buyer for the Borders Group, who will join Yen Press November 27." Kurt Hassler recently ranked No.1 on ICv2's "Ten Most Powerful People in Manga" list. MangaCast points out several new titles on Rightstuf listed under Infinity Studios: - "ChibiMono" by Shinonome Mizuo There has been no official announcement regarding the new titles. From Active Anime comes an interview with BL mangaka Makoto Tateno, author of DMP's Yellow and the upcoming Hero Heel. In the interview Makoto Tateno talks about how she became a mangaka, the difference between "Shounen Ai" and "Yaoi," and more. When asked if she has any current or future projects, Tateno answered, "I’m currently working on 6 different titles." Eisner Award-winning graphic novelist Joann Sfar will appear at the San Francisco Public Library Presents on November 14th.
