Hong Kong Artist Wins First International Manga Award
Lee Chi Ching's winning work, Sun Tzu's Tactics (Known as The Art of War in China - Chinese Title: 孫子兵法; JP title: 孫子攻略), is a historic series that portrays the life of the famous Chinese military strategist. The three runners-up went to Kai from Hong Kong, Malaysia's Benny Wong Thong Hou and Madeleine Rosca from Australia. While there are no prize money involved, the winners will be taking a 10-day trip to Japan to meet with local Japanese artists, and each will receive a trophy at the awards ceremony in Tokyo on July 2nd. ![]() The International Manga Award, created by Japan's Foreign Minister Taro Aso, was first announced in May, and was dubbed the "Nobel Prize of Manga". 146 works from 46 countries entered the award this year.
