2007 Hong Kong Comics Festival Dates Announced

The 2007 Hong Kong Comics Festival will take place this year in Hong Kong between 7/27 - 7/31 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The 5-day convention is a made up of two separate events, the 9th Hong Kong Ani-Com and the 4th Hong Kong Game Fair.

Events planned for the Hong Kong Ani-Com include manga and anime exhibitions, presentations from manga artists, cosplay contest, a anime/manga/toys/etc. "Mega Store," as well as a Gundam model competition/exhibition sponsored by Bandai, Media Works and the Dengeki Hobby magazine.

The Hong Kong Game Fair will showcase and provide access to games of all types and genres, including competitive gaming, online games, console games, PC games and mobile games. Also announced is the Game Girl contest, where cosyplayers/gaming girls compete for the grand prize of 5000 HKD and a 2-year contract with Baby Blue Model Agency.

Last year an estimated 490,000 people attended the Hong Kong Comic Fest over the course of 5 days.

Also announced was the Guangzhou Hong Kong Macao ACG Expo (ACG stands for Anime, Comics and Games). The event is said to be a "replica" of the Hong Kong Ani-Com, and will take place in Guangzhou from October 3rd to October 7th. According to the expo's official website, the event is supported by industry leaders from China, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea.
