According to Shogakukan, issue 17 of its seinen manga magazine Young Sunday will come with an original joint-illustration made by Rumiko Takahashi and Mitsuru Adachi.

The illustration, which features Azusa Satomi (from Adachi's Idol A) riding on Kosaku Hatanaka (from Takahashi's One-Pound Gospel)'s shoulders, was created earlier this month for an auction to benefit the city of Yuubari in Hokkaido. The event was part of Shogakukan's campaign to celebrate Young Sunday's 20th anniversary.

Shogakukan has announced that its new shounen light novel label Gagaga Bunko will launch on May 24th. The label's 10-title lineup includes a novel adaptation of Kenjiro Hata's Hayate the Combat Butler, written by Toshihiko Tsukiji.

A special one-shot story from Gosho Aoyama, creator of Detective Conan (Case Closed), will appear in Shogakukan's Weekly Young Sunday issue 16, on sale 3/22.

The one-shot, titled Tell Me A Lie -Lies being Attached to Me-, is said to be Gosho Aoyama's first new story after 13 years.

Last month Shogakukan requested a doujinshi artist to cease publication of his work, a doujinshi titled Doraemon - Final Episode. The doujinshi was released at Comiket 69 (Winter 2005). The work was drawn and written so well that many fans thought it was the official conclusion to Doraemon.

Although the doujinshi's author has stopped distributing the work, the Mandarake store in Akihabara has put up a poster that says: "Doraemon - Final Episode for 8,000 yen."

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of its seinen manga magazine Young Sunday, Shogakukan has launched a special anniversary website at YSC20.com.

Celebrating Corocoro Comic's 30th anniversary, a special event will be held by Shogakukan at the Suginami Animation Museum in Tokyo from February 27 to May 27. Events will include screenings, autograph signings and displays of original manuscripts from Corocoro Comic.

Issue 8 of Weekly Shonen Sunday came with a "Butler Certification." The feature is part of a special effort to celebrate Hayate the Combat Butler's anime adaption.

In the questionnaire, series creator Kenjiro Hata made up many interesting questions, "wonderful prizes" such as a Nintendo DS will go to those who receive a high score.

A doujinshi titled Doraemon - Final Episode was released at the end of 2005. Since then the work has sold over 15,500 copies and received many praises. However, recently Shogakukan, the copyrights holder of Doraemon, has announced that this doujinshi work is infringing their copyrights, and requested the doujin group to cease publication of their work. Moreover, Shogakukan is also claiming compensation, and even considering prosecution.

During the 25th Next Generation World Hobby Fair held in the University of Tokyo's Association Hall from January 20 to 21, Shogakukan announced a new magazine titled Nekketsu!! Coro Coro Densetsu that's aimed at "adults in their 20's-30's and [will] collect and compile classic [...] manga from the 1970's through the mid 1990's." The first volume will be released on May 25th, current lineup includes Doraemon, Dodge Danpei, Obake no Q-taro and Bikkuriman. (Note this year also marks the 30th anniversary of Shogakukan's Monthly Coro Coro Comics)
