Recently the Chinese government is beginning to push the growth of the Chinese entertainment industry. Anime, manga, and games are fortes of Japan, with China's youth population of 500 million, China is becoming an attractive market for the Japanese entertainment industry, but it's not going to be easy. A new manga based on the Negima anime will start serialization in the November issue of Comic BomBom (10/14), the artist will be Takuya Fujima. Brazilian brothers Monica and Mauricio Somenzari Leite Olivas are the winners of World Cosplay Summit 2006. The two cosplayed as Rosiel and Alexiel from Angel Sanctuary. Go Nagai (from the jury) said that the two brothers represented Brazil well: "Their presentation was good, and impressed all us". This is the first time Brazil participated in the World Cosplay Summit. The Editor-in-Chief of the popular shoujo manga magazine "Shoujo Comic" (Sho-comi) was disciplinarily dismissed on June 27th because of embezzlement. According to Shogakukan's public relations department, the Editor-in-Chief fabricated bills and claimed fake expenditure of over 10 million yen. The man was appointed as Editor-in-Chief of Sho-comi in July 2004. From around the Spring of 2003 till the Spring of 2006, the man claimed approximately 100,000 yen over and over on the bills of a bar. When the Editor-in-Chiefâs superior discovered his suspicious claims and questioned him, he confessed to the embezzlement. The man has since compensated for all of the embezzled money, and Shougakukan doesn't intend to charge him. Shougakukan's public relations department stated: "we will increase our education on compliance." The MEST (Japanese Ministry of Education, Science and Technology) has accepted the establishment of the Department of Manga at the Tokyo Polytechnic University and the Image Arts Faculty at the Ritsumeikan University this coming spring. Both universities will begin working on the installation of the new courses in their media contents field. World Cosplay Summit - or simply WCS - brings together the best cosplayers from around the world in a competition for the title of "worldâs best cosplayer". WCS is organized yearly by Aichi TV. The main ceremony of WCS 2006 takes place today and tomorrow in Nagoya (JP). Asuka Shinsha's manga illustration magazine, SS, is now accepting illustrations for its Vol.7 issue, which will be released in October. The deadline is August 25th. According to Rumic World, Rumiko Takahashi's One-Pound Gospel will resume serialization in Young Sunday No. 52 (11/22), and will end after a 5-part storyline. The 2005 Wealthiest People Ranking has been released. One of the occupations in the list was "mangaka," which appeared on the "Megawealth index." Certainly, being a mangaka must result in high pays and offer a luxurious life that people in a salary system long for. So how exactly does one spend their luxurious life? |
