To commemorate the 10th anniversary of its annual Osamu Tezuka Cultural Award event, and the many manga artist and judges involved, Asahi Shimbun will be hosting the Osamu Tezuka Cultural Award 10th Anniversary event, "Manga Mirai Seiki " (Literally: Manga Future Century), on 9/10 at the Yurakucho Asahi Hall. Past award winners, nominees, judges, and other manga artists will take part in the event. The event has three sections, which will feature and discuss the history of the Tezuka award, the future and potential of manga, and an "art showdown" between artists. Yuki Urushibara's popular comic "Mushishi" (serialized in Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon Magazine, recently licensed in North American by Del Rey) will be adapted into a live-action film starring Jo Odagiri. One of the questions asked was "How is the Quality of a Fansub's Translation, and the Translator's Skill?". AnimeAnime has posted a special 2-part follow-up to that article, titled "????Fansubs and the Gloom of the Anime Industry????." In Part 1, Romi (the writer) talks about the history of fansubs, and how the growth of internet affected the fandom in general. In Part 2, Romi talks about how some fansubbers defend their actions. The 4 volume classic shoujo manga Hot Road by Taku Tsumugi will be revived this July, as Shueisha plans to release a 3 volume Perfect Edition version of the manga starting this month. The Perfect Edition version will be released once a month, and will come with never-before-seen artworks, as well as color drawings.
