U.S.theOtaku.com has teamed up with Go! Comi and the organizers (same people behind NY Comic-Con) of the New York Anime Festival to hold the Go! Comi and theOtaku.com Doujinshi Contest. The deadline is November 1, all artists are encouraged to send in their five-page doujinshi based on Go! Comi's Black Sun, Silver Moon by uploading the entry to the New York Anime Festival section of theOtaku.com. Giapet.net points out a poll on Viz's website that asks various questions about whether people are interested in purchasing their manga by online, which suggests that Viz is considering the option of distributing downloadable manga online like Tokyopop and NETCOMICS. The American Library Association has its list of nominations for the Great Graphic Novels for Teens Award, compiled by the Young Adult Library Services Association, a division of the American Library Association. Below are a list of manga nominated, compiled by Giapet.net: Canned Dogs reports that the Japanese blog Dekadenbiyori is not impressed with the English version of the Shakugan no Shana light novel, commenting on the poor translation and the fact that the protagonist Yuji Sakai's speech are composed of 41% "Ugh," 25% What?!, and the rest some other kinds of exclamatory statements. |
