RumorsShueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump is known for canceling its series (even the 2ch Early Sales info is called the "Cancellation Survival Race"). Each issue of Shonen Jump comes with a survey postcard that asks its readers to vote for their favorite series. Every week, manga serialized in Jump are ranked from most popular to least popular. Usually the less popular series tend to enjoy a very short lifespan. Weekly Jump Readers' Journal is reporting that Eiichiro Oda revealed in the latest volume of One Piece how Weekly Jump ranks its series: Shueisha has updated the official Weekly Shonen Jump website with a banner announcing the return of Hunter x Hunter. Also, according to Weekly Jump Readers' Journal, there are rumors going around the internet that Prince of Tennis, Belmonde and Hero Studies may all be ending in Shonen Jump starting with issue 48 (11/26), to be replaced by new series from Shinya Suzuki (mangaka of Mr. Fullswing), Mizuki Kawashita (mangaka of Ichigo 100%), Takeshi Obata (artist of Death Note, Hikaru no Go) and Shiibashi Hiroshi. ANS points out an Amazon.com has listed Osamu Tezuka's Dororo manga under Vertical. According to the listing, Dororo will be released next April. Edit: Publishers Weekly has confirmed the license. Source: AoD Giapet.net points out a poll on Viz's website that asks various questions about whether people are interested in purchasing their manga by online, which suggests that Viz is considering the option of distributing downloadable manga online like Tokyopop and NETCOMICS. There's a rumor going around the internet that adult manga publisher Touen Shobo and its subsidiary firm, Tsukasa Shobo, have filed for bankruptcy. Touen Shobo published an adult manga magazine called Comic Jumbo, which was suspended on July 6th (August issue). Back in May, Tajima T. Yasue (pen name) officially apologized to Shogakukan and Fujiko Production for the now-legendary Doraemon doujinshi, and announced that he will pay an undisclosed amount of money for the settlement based on the sales generated by the doujinshi (rumored to be several million yen). Many doujinshi creators have criticized Shogakukan for taking legal actions and generally making a big deal out of one doujinshi. Shogakukan responded by saying the doujinshi has sold over 13,000 copies, which has far surpassed the normal sales of a doujinshi, and some people have even started asking if the story was true. Currently there's a rumor going around Japanese bulletin boards that Kentaro Yabuki (creator of Black Cat)'s To-LOVE-Ru will be adapted into an anime. However, there are currently no solid evidence that suggests an anime adaptation is in the works.
