Top Manga Properties in 2008 - Rankings and Circulation Data
Oricon, a company that originally ranked music sales (think Japanese Billboard), but nowadays ranks almost everything related to Japanese entertainment, has released the 2008 annual sales data on various types of media, including 2008 manga rankings.
Below is the 2008 Top 50 Ranking manga tankoubons and their sales data, and the Top 10 Series ranking as compiled by Oricon:

Oricon also surveyed Japanese male and female readers between the age of 10 to 40 for their Most Interesting Manga of 2008, and the top response was One Piece, followed by Nodame Cantabile and Nana:

- Nodame Cantabile (Vol.20-21), Approval rating: 38.8%
- Nana (Vol.19-20), Approval rating: 32.5%
- Naruto (Vol.41-44), Approval rating: 23.6%
- Hunter X Hunter (Vol.25-26), Approval rating: 23.1%
- Bleach (Vol.32-36), Approval rating: 18.8%
- Kuroshitsuji (Vol.4-5), Approval rating: 17.0%
- Kimi ni Todoke (Vol.6-8), Approval rating: 15.5%
- Saint Oniisan (Vol.1-2), Approval rating: 11.2%
Back in the U.S., ICv2 has posted its "Top 25 Manga Properties," which corresponds to sales in September, October and the first two weeks of November, 2008. According to ICv2, the chart is based on "interviews with retailers and distributors, information provided by Nielsen BookScan of graphic novels sold in bookstores, and ICv2???s own analysis of information provided by Diamond Comic Distributors on graphic novel sales in comic stores."

This is good, thi manga is awesome, it surely deserves the place. It even is above Hikaru no go and Death note (two of my favorites along with Dai No Daibouken).

All great series of course. One Piece is on it's way to the top, I truly wonder about the ranking of Shonen Magazine, Shonen Sunday, and even all manga in Japan altogether.
