A new series from Leiji Matsumoto (Galaxy Express 999, Captain Harlock) titled Hotaruna You will debut in the December issue of Kodansha's Monthly Comic Bon Bon, on sale on 15th November 2006. Qiang Qiang, the new mascot for the 21st Shandong Provice Sports Game (Shandong 21st Game) was recently unveiled to the public. However, the new mascot was met with severe criticism as its design was accused of being copied from a creature in Pokemon. The Star Online takes an in-depth look at Junichi Nojo's Hallelujah, a classical music manga serialized in Shogakukan's Big Comic Original.
"Gareki no Shou" is a garage kit manga by Kazuhiko Shimamoto that was originally published in 1995. After being out of print for 12 years, Akiba Blog points out that Gareki no Shou is now being reprinted by Fox Shuppan. The second annual Akihabara Entamatsuri Festival will take place from Saturday, October 21st to Sunday, Octover 29th in Akihabara. The event will be hosted in conjunction with the 9-day Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) in an effort to draw more international attention to Japanese anime, manga, and videogames. Many anime series will be shown at one particular event called "animecs T!FF in Akihabara," which will include series such as Mobile Suit Gundam, Ghost in the Shell - Solid State Society, Fist of the North Star Raoh Side Story Junai Arc film, and Neon Genesis Evangelion The End of Evangelion. Details of the upcoming film version of Media Work's Shakugan no Shana, Kino no Tabi, and Inukami! will be announced on stage in AKIBA_SQUARE. Although nowadays it is common for people to purchase DVD or books online, Manga-Zenkan is very unique in that it only sells complete set of old manga series. Manga-Zenkan.com is run by TORICO Corp. The store aims to let its customers "read interesting manga in one go," "read old manga and bring back memories," and "relax while reading masterpieces." Manga-Zenkan.com also aims to become a comic store that specializes in serving adults who want to read manga not only at a manga cafe but also at home. The 11th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Award is now accepting nominations. Any work published between January and December 2006 is eligible (excluding re-publications), the result will be announced in Asahi Shimbun in May 2007.
