July, 2007CAEAA Puts Out Call World-wide for Judges for the 2007 Elans Video Game and Animation Categories VANCOUVER July 24, 2007 - The 2nd Annual Canadian Awards for the Electronic and Animated Arts (CAEAA), along with their Event Partners Electronic Arts (EA), Autodesk/Annex Pro, N-GAGE by NOKIA, Ernst & Young and the British Columbia Provincial Government announced their call for Judges today to Video Game and Animation Companies around the world for the 2007 Elans held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on Friday, November 2nd, 2007 at The Centre in Vancouver for the Performing Arts. GoodsTrain will be launching a new label titled TwinTail for publishing novels, drama CDs and other PC games-related books. According to the latest issue of PWCW, Korean manhwa publisher ICE Kunion will be completely absorbed by Hachette's new manga imprint Yen Press. Yen Press will begin releasing ICE Kunion titles beginning in spring of 2008, and plans to release 30-40 titles by the end of 2008. Also, former ICE Kunion editorial director Ju-Youn Lee is now Yen Press' senior editor. According to Lee regarding Yen Press' offer to Sigongsa (one of ICE Kunion's parent company): ANN reports that volunteers in the Illustrated Braille Club from the Japanese town Kitajima are working on transcribing Momoko Sakura's new Chibi Maruko-chan manga into Braille (raised dots) for those who are blind and visually impaired: According J-Box News, Nana by Ai Yazawa will be released in Brazil this coming September. The license was confirmed by JBC Publising at the Anime Friends convention. Conrad Publishing made an attempt at acquiring the title earlier this year, but lost the license to JBC. Source: Papo de Budega (LOS ANGELES, July 23, 2007) - Seven Seas Entertainment is pleased to announce that Madeleine Rosca's award-winning manga Hollow Fields is going back to press. Earlier this month, Rosca was the only westerner among four winners to be awarded a prize in Japan's first ever "International Manga Award" for her work on Hollow Fields. The initial print run of Hollow Fields was 25,000 copies, which filled orders from the book market, direct market, and Scholastic Book Fairs. However, Hollow Fields is now going back to press to fill a substantial number of back orders. On June 12, a business tie-up between the #1 cellular phone novel website Mahou no Island and MediaWorks (the publisher of the #1 light novel label Dengeki Bunko) was formed. As a result, a new bunko label titled Mahou no Island Bunko (temporary title) will start in fall 2007. This bunko will feature novels from Mahou no Island's extensive line-up, and will be published by MediaWorks every month. The price will be between 530-570 yen for each book. Preview art from the series will debut at Comic-Con International, held in San Diego, CA from July 26–29. The World of Warcraft comic book will be published through DC’s WildStorm imprint and debut this fall.
