Akita ShotenA manga adaptation of singer Eikichi Yazawa's autobiography Nariagari, titled Nariagari: Yazawa Eikichi Monogatari (成り上がり 矢沢永吉物語) (drawn by Sho Kitagawa), began in Kadokawa Shoten's Comic Charge No.3 (1/15). Also, Tohru Fujisawa, mangaka of Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO), will begin a new series titled Anhapi-! (Unhappy!) (アンはぴっ!) in Comic Charge No.5 (2/19). Two new one-shots Ginga -Nagareboshi Gin- Special Chapter (Part 1) (銀牙-流れ星 銀- 特別編 (前編)) by Yoshihiro Takahashi and Metaborika (めたボリカ) by Yuzuki Hikaru, will appear in Shueisha's Business Jump No.5 (2/1). Two new series, Alice no 100℃c (アリスの100℃c) by Chizuna Nakajima (mangaka of Iinari! Aibration) and Yakuza Girl ~Blade Shikake no Hanayome~ (ヤクザガール ~ブレイド仕掛けの花嫁~) by Okuma Yu-go, will begin serialization in the April issue of Akita Shoten's Champion RED (2/19). A manga adaptation of Atlus' game Etrian Odyssey II (世界樹の迷宮II ) (also known as Sekaiju no Meikyuu or Yggdrasil Labyrinth) by FLIPFLOPs will begin serialization in the March issue of Ichijinsha's Comic REX, on sale 2/9. Also starting in the same issue is a new manga titled Eru-Eru Sister (える・えるシスター) by Yokoshima Takemaru. Last but not least, an important announcement will be made regarding Takenashi Eri's Kannagi (かんなぎ). According to Moon Phase, it will be news of Kannagi's anime adaptation. Kenjirou Takeshita (mangaka of Cocoon and Happy World!) will start a new manga titled Tsuriya Nagare (釣り屋 ナガレ) in Akita Shoten's Weekly Shonen Champion No.6 (1/10). Shueisha has announced that JoJo's Bizarre Adventure by Hirohiko Araki will be adapted into a light novel series called The Book ~ JoJo's Bizarre Adventure 4th Another Day, with Otsuichi in charge of the story. The light novel will be released on 11/26. According to the Comic Flapper Blog, Hideyuki Kikuchi's Vampire Hunter D will be adapted into a manga. According to the blog, volume 1 of the manga will be released on 11/14 in the U.S., Germany, Italy, Spain and other countries simultaneously. According to Moon Phase, Kiminori Wagasugi's manga Detroit Metal City will be adapted into an anime and live-action film. Biohazard (known as Resident Evil in the U.S.) will be adapted into a manga and serialize in Akita Shoten's Weekly Shounen Champion. The manga is written by Masaru Miyazaki and drawn by Naotsugu Matsueda. The first chapter will begin in Shounen Champion No.50. A new Fist of the North Star side story titled Shirogane no Seija (The Silver Saint) began serialization in issue 39 of Coamix's Comic Bunch (8/24). The new series is illustrated by Yuka Nagate, and follows the story of Toki, a character from Fist of the North Star. Also, a new manga titled Legion by Fujisawa Yuuki, creator of Metro Survive, began serialization in Akita Shoten's Play Comic No. 17 (8/23). According to Champion Red Ichigo's news page, volume 2 of Akita Shoten's Champion Red Ichigo (6/5) will come with an announcement regarding a big project. Currently the only information available is that the project will be a follow-up to the manga My-HiME and My-Otome, more information will be available in Champion Red Ichigo issue 2. Yamamoto Kenji's manga Chaotic RunES will be going on hiatus in the June issue of Akita Shoten's Champion Red. According to Champion Red's Editorial Department, Yamamoto Kenji was forced to stop drawing due to his rapidly deteriorating eyesight that has left him almost blind. According to a blog post of its editorial department, Akita Shoten's manga magazine Champion Red Ichigo will become a bi-monthly magazine starting with Volume 2, to be released on June 5th. An anime adaptation of the seinen manga Shigurui, written by Norio Nanjo and drawn by Takayuki Yamaguchi, has been announced and is planned to be aired in September. |
